Service status

When something breaks.

ORLA is software and software has outages. Pretending otherwise would be the kind of promise this company does not make, so here is exactly what happens when ORLA is down, what you can do about it, and how you will be told.

We do not yet publish a live uptime dashboard. Doing so honestly needs monitoring we have not finished building, and a green light that is not actually measured is worse than no light at all. This page will carry one when it measures something real.

If ORLA cannot answer

Your calls fall back rather than vanish. When the system detects it is unavailable, callers are handed to a human forwarding path instead of hearing silence or a broken message. The failure is designed to be loud, not quiet: a call that fails audibly can be retried, a call that fails silently is a lost customer nobody knows about.

You can switch ORLA off in about ten seconds

ORLA answers because you diverted your number to it. That divert is yours. You dial a short code on your own handset and your calls ring exactly where they used to, immediately, without asking us and without waiting for us. You do not need our permission and you do not need us to be online.

How you are told

If we know about a problem affecting your line, we contact you. We would rather tell you about an outage you had not noticed than have you discover it from a customer. If you spot something first, ring 07385 100398 or email hello@ringorla.com and say what happened and roughly when. We will pull the actual call rather than ask you to describe it.

Planned changes

Changes to what ORLA says on your line are agreed with you before they are made. We do not quietly re-word your receptionist. If we need to change something for a technical reason, you are told what changed and why.

What we will not claim

  • We do not publish an uptime percentage, because we have not measured one over a meaningful period.
  • We do not promise ORLA will never miss a call.
  • We do not offer a service credit scheme we have not built the accounting for.
  • ORLA is not an emergency service. If there is danger to life, ring 999.

You can always check ORLA yourself. 020 4538 1650 is the demonstration line and it runs on the same system your clients reach. If ORLA answers, it is up.
